Collins Seafoods Ltd
Collins Seafoods Ltd is a supplier of high-quality Frozen at Sea fish to wholesalers and fish and chip shops across the North East, Cumbria and Yorkshire.
With bases in Newton Aycliffe and Leeds, the company catches approximately 10,000 tonnes of fish every year and has built a strong reputation within the fish and chip shop sector.
We worked with Collins Seafoods from March 2013, supporting the business with marketing, PR, design, content and awards activity.
Aim
The aim was to strengthen Collins Seafoods’ brand and reputation within the fish and chip shop sector and the wider fast food industry.
We were tasked with raising the profile of the company, its people and its products across regional and trade platforms, while developing a more consistent approach to marketing, advertising and online activity.
The campaign also aimed to improve Collins Seafoods’ web presence, support its role within the local community and help build awareness in key target areas, including the East Midlands and the North East.
The Campaign
We worked closely with Collins Seafoods to develop a more consistent and professional marketing presence across trade and regional platforms.
This included creating adverts and editorial content for trade press and magazines, as well as developing a 12-month advertising schedule planned around relevant industry features and opportunities.
The activity helped ensure Collins Seafoods remained visible in front of key audiences, including fish and chip shop owners, wholesalers and fast food industry contacts.
To improve the company’s online presence, we supported the development of a new mobile-responsive website.
The website was created to better showcase the Collins Seafoods business, its product range, company history and expertise within the frozen-at-sea fish sector.
This gave the company a stronger digital platform to support sales, brand awareness and customer communication.
We created a range of content and marketing materials to support both brand awareness and sales activity.
This included a quarterly customer newsletter, Catch Up, which was created for Collins Seafoods to share updates with customers and support the sales team with regular, useful communication.
We also developed a 20-page product guide, significantly improving the way Collins Seafoods presented its fish and sundries ranges to potential customers.
Additional marketing materials included MSC-certified window cling stickers, A3 sustainability posters and new van wraps for the company’s delivery fleet.
Alongside marketing activity, we supported Collins Seafoods with PR to help build its reputation in both regional and trade media.
We secured coverage in regional publications including The Journal, The Darlington & Stockton Times, Aycliffe Today, The Northern Echo, BQ Magazine and Newton News.
We also generated coverage in relevant trade publications, including Feast and The Fish Friers, helping Collins Seafoods strengthen its visibility within the fish and chip shop and wider food sectors.
Awards formed part of our wider reputation-building work for Collins Seafoods.
We successfully applied for two awards on behalf of the business and its leadership team.
Managing director Richard Collins was entered for the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Star Radio Awards, which he went on to win at the awards ceremony in October.
In the same week, Claire was shortlisted for the Key Woman Award at the Women into the Network Awards in Newcastle. Although she was named runner-up in the category, the strength of her application led to her receiving a newly created One to Watch award – the first time the WIN Awards had introduced this recognition.
The Results
Our work helped Collins Seafoods strengthen its brand presence across trade, regional and customer-facing channels.
Through PR activity, the business secured coverage in both regional and trade publications, helping to raise awareness of the company, its people and its role within the fish and chip shop sector.
The new mobile-responsive website gave Collins Seafoods a stronger digital platform, while the quarterly Catch Up newsletter, product guide, sustainability posters, van wraps and customer-facing materials helped create a more consistent and professional brand presence.
Awards activity also delivered strong recognition for the company’s leadership team. Richard Collins won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Star Radio Awards, while Claire was recognised at the Women into the Network Awards, receiving the newly created One to Watch award.
Together, the marketing, PR, design and awards activity helped Collins Seafoods build credibility, improve visibility and strengthen its reputation across the regional business community and the wider fish and chip shop sector.
