Aim
Elements Green, a global leader in renewable energy, approached Harvey & Hugo to support the launch of its flagship UK development: Great North Road Solar & Biodiversity Park. With plans to power 400,000 homes across Nottinghamshire, the project required robust PR and community engagement to educate the public and secure the support of residents and councillors.
Our task was to ensure a continuous stream of positive press, build trusted media relationships, create community-focused content, reinforce public understanding of the environmental and economic benefits of the project, and to create a brand for the developer’s community benefit scheme, NG+.
The Campaign
We developed and executed a proactive PR strategy, crafting and distributing targeted press releases around key milestones and partnerships to maximise media traction. This approach secured consistent coverage across national, regional, and sector-specific titles, significantly elevating Elements Green’s visibility within both the public and industry landscape.
We developed a suite of multimedia content to clearly communicate and promote the scheme across both digital and in-person touchpoints. From website and social assets to consultation materials, each piece was designed to simplify complex information, improve accessibility, and support meaningful community engagement.
This included Q&A videos with key team members, photography, animated explainers, infographics, social media campaigns, printed collateral, and exhibition materials.
We worked closely with Elements Green to deliver a structured community engagement strategy, focused on building trust and fostering meaningful relationships with local stakeholders. Through targeted outreach, stakeholder meetings, and ongoing engagement management, we ensured consistent and transparent communication throughout the consultation process.
This approach contributed to strong attendance at consultation events and a measurable shift in sentiment, with fewer objections and increased support between the non-statutory and statutory consultation phases.
The Results
Our work delivered widespread media coverage, strengthened public perception, and supported the successful rollout of key initiatives, including the launch of EG Academy.
Through a targeted PR strategy, Elements Green secured coverage across regional, national, and industry media, including the BBC, MSN, and leading renewables publications, significantly raising the profile of the Great North Road Solar & Biodiversity Park.
Crucially, this activity contributed to a measurable shift in local sentiment. Consultation events were well attended, with opposition decreasing and support increasing between the non-statutory and statutory phases, demonstrating improved understanding and engagement within the community.
Alongside this, the launch of EG Academy introduced a meaningful education initiative to the project, reinforcing its long-term social impact and commitment to addressing skills gaps within the renewables sector.
Overall, the campaign not only elevated visibility, but played a key role in building trust, strengthening community support, and positioning the scheme for future planning success.
“Working with Harvey & Hugo is fun, always professional, and they have a creative twist to everything they do with us. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to take forward your PR.”
